I started writing this post as a reply to a comment on the previous one but thought I should make it into a full entry as I am angry. The (anonymous) comment went:

Reading yet another expat blog with the expat has a asian gf…it’s so easy for white dudes to get asian gf’s…..must be good for the ego huh? :)

You know, if you live in Japan and you are male you are most likely to end up with a Japanese girlfriend. Not just because they are allegedly easy but because you live in Japan.

If I lived in Italy there is a likelihood (however small) that I would end up with a Italian girlfriend just because the majority of females in that country are Italian.

It`s a well known point that some Japanese women are easy to get and there is obviously some truth in it. I recently read from Bill Bryson that in all of our family trees however far back there has been some sort of inbreeding going on somewhere. With Reiko being Japanese and me English, we are more likely to be distantly related than you sick no-name commenter heathens marrying your cousins.

P.S Where this breaks down of course is I met Reiko in England but if you live in a foreign country for a long amount of time you are relatively limited in the choice of nationality of your girlfriend/wife. Also if you`re going to insult me, leave an email address at least so I can discuss the matter further. I`ve had three insults left in the comments of this blog and I don`t understand why. I don`t incite racial hatred, I`m not (irretrievably) stupid and this blog is a laid back look at my life in Japan so leave me alone.
