I’m on holiday and we had a picnic in the local park in the shade of a tree which was lovely. Brought along a couple of beers and some wine. A sort of impromptu blossom festival.
I still don’t understand why the Cherry Blossom festivals so prevalent in Japan aren’t more popular in other countries. Granted we have no cherry blossoms here but don’t let that stop you. Sit in warm sunshine under beautiful blossoms drinking alcohol. What could be better than that?

There’s Cherry blossom in the UK but most of it is on the sides of suburban streets which wouldn;t be nice for a party.
When I was in the UK we didn’t need Cherry Blossoms to come out to have a hanami – we just needed the sun! Any sunny Sunday and the parks would be full of people eating, drinking, playing…
Yes the problem is the lack of sun not lack of cherry blossom. We have beautiful cherry blossom at the bottom of our garden just no sun. Some how the beer just doesn’t taste so good when it’s freezin cold or for ever raining!
