It`s the return of the cicada. I think you have these in America but the only evil large bug we have in England is the maybug which is pitiful in comparison. These creatures as you can see are ugly and large but tend to hide in trees and live for only three days.
They spend the majority of those three days making unbearably loud noises with their wings in a determined and so far hugely successful attempt to wake me up on my newly begun-holiday. Thus being ugly and noisy, they have positioned themselves second on my insect hate list a mere insect`s wing behind the dreaded evil cockroach. (Bigger versions at Flickr cicada)
