Crippling midgets

I just finished watching a house rennovation TV programme a la Changing Rooms here in Japan. Whereas in England they have two days to give a room a quick fix often sticking on bits with pieces of Blu Tac when there is no time to use glue, in Japan they seem to have got the idea all wrong.
The house in question was built 70 years ago and clearly intended for a family of midgets. Thus to avoid a lifetime curse of curved spines from permanent bending the programme got a bit carried away. They completely gutted the house and rebuilt it with new beams, higher floors and a completely new set of furniture. Thus replacing the crippling spine curvature with a lifetime of crippling debt.
If they had only learned from the great BBC they would have known to DIG! Of course!
