Save some light American bashing, I don`t think I have got political in this blog before. Hum. But I spent most of the day squinting at the BBC`s American election night coverage which, thanks to the power of the internet and a nine hour time difference, I can watch in a tiny window online. It loks like Bush is going to win it (how the hell he managed that I don`t know) but although it`s disappointing, I think it`s just what America deserves. I think he should live through the consequences his stupid and rash actions have caused America and the world and it would be unfair for Kerry to have to correct those mistakes Although he is obviously more than willing and capable of doing so

It is also an endorsement by a foolish American public of Bush`s theft of the presidency and his awful first term in power which included massive job losses and deficit, two unneccessary wars and complete disregard for other nations. Incidentally Koizumi the Japanese prime minister wants Bush to win. Perhaps the only foreigner in the world who does so.

From the excellent linked article in the Guardian:

It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but one that should hopefully lead to a brighter future. Bush owns his messes, and now he’ll be forced to clean them up. He won’t be able to hide behind 9/11 seven years into his term. Unless the Republicans can engineer a recovery of epic proportions, they will have a great deal to answer to in the 2006 midterms and 2008. And God help Bush if this nation suffers another terrorist attack.

Aye.
