How about this photo of an insect I found hiding in an orange tree in my garden in Japan? It allowed me to get really close and take a lot of photos.
Eventually I must have got too close as it discovered it had wings and flew off. This surprised me so much that I dropped my camera on the pavement and scratched the LCD badly.
Still I`m really happy with this shot and my new insect model. I shall call him George and hug him and squeeze him. If anyone knows what it is, I`d be very interested to know.

It’s scary looking, that’s what it is.
goodness, it looks like an alien!
My wife says that it’s a kamikirimushi, whatever that is. We don’t know the english for it.
i cannot believe someone else remembers that stupid cartoon with the retard dog …
“I shall call him George and hug him and squeeze him.”
whats next ? quotes from ren and stimpy ?
If it’s a kamikirimushi, it’s a long-horned beetle in english. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerambycidae
It looks harmless but a little strange looking insect.
If he returns, try squeezing him and tell us what happens. I once took a picture of a praying mantis on the mansion exterior wall. And how about those Box Elder bugs? And somewhere in my apartment is a yamori that disappeared several years ago. Maybe under the bathtub.
I believe that is the larval form of that most terrible of Kaiju, Megalon.
Beware his powerful drill attack if he returns.
That is one seriously big bug. But I guess in Japan you get used to them?
