Swastika

This is the roof of a small shrine on the street. These things, (along with beer vending machines) always surprise me that they are still there the next day. In England the machine would have been crushed in the pursuit of the golden nectar hidden inside and the shrine would have served as a conveniently placed public urinal.
I guess they have more respect for things over here. Incidentally shrines in Japanese maps are marked with the swastika symbol. There are often small cups on the shrines with swastikas on them. Thanks to the X-Files I know that the swastika symbol is far older than the Nazis and the has a meaning of peace and protection. It was just a bit disconcerting to see them everywhere.
